Blowfish....

Well guys, I've been buying stuff from Blowfish for the past four or five years now and until now, I've never had a problem. But. *sigh* There's always a but, isn't there? I ordered some nifty new toys on January 6th... one of which was meant to be a surprise for C in Vegas... and I finally heard from Blowfish on the 18th, telling me one of the items was backordered. Hmmm! They didn't let me know which one, or give me any options for changing the order, or offer me a discount of any kind for being a loyal customer, or do anything but say "Sorry." It's now January 26th and I still have no idea what is going on, aside from "it's backordered." No estimated dates of shipment, no nothing. Here's what they said:

"We are very sorry that you are unhappy with our service. It is an unfortunate fact that item backorders can occur, and we cannot control the variable manufacturing and shipping factors that can lead to items being delayed. We do appreciate your business, and we will ship your order just as soon as the backorder comes in. "

I'm sorry though, I need more than that. An estimated ship date would be fabulous! Telling me which product is backordered and giving me the option of changing my order, so I can at least get the other items would be nice. Or maybe shipping the items they do have, gratis, since it was their mistake, while they wait for this to be resolved... instead of leaving me hanging like this. I'm so disappointed!

I still believe Blowfish has the best prices, and the best reviews of their products. However if you need it in a hurry, maybe try Toys in Babeland, which is another good toystore. I'm really, really disappointed in the customer service at Blowfish. I guess it's one of those things where as long as you never have a problem, you'll be fine! I never did until now, and I've sent them a ton of business.

*sigh* Well I'll be adding this to my review of Blowfish. I am not saying not to order things there... just to be aware that this could happen if you do.

Annnnnnnnnyways, speaking of toys, I had some fun with some toys the other night.... here's one pic from this shoot. It's taking me forever to do them though, as I've hurt a finger on my right hand, which makes typing/mousing a real literal pain. UGH! Hey, incidentally... anyone out there know anything about restoring a large, partially overwritten file????

The Monte Carlo....

Evvvvvvvvvveryone wants to know what hotel we were at, so I might as well tell you here... it was the Monte Carlo's Spa Suite. It is pretty neat... click here for the pictures (JUST pics of the suite, not me!)... it has that huuuuuuuuuuge jacuzzi tub (of which there will be more pics in the members section tomorrow I hope!), a full sized bar with fridge and sink, a seating area with couch, chair, tv, stereo etc, speakers mounted by the bed for the stereo, a spa steamer in the glass shower, and it runs about what you'd pay for a base level room at the Bellagio. Of course it is NOT the Bellagio. It's not as well kept but it is very, very nice, and I am a hotel snob.

This is an AWESOME tub! I want one like this at hooooooome!!! (It fills up FAST, too!)


My one complaint was... the Door to Nowhere. That is those doors which connect to the room next door? I hate those! They are never soundproof at all, and you can hear everything next door, and of course... they can hear YOU. Which, in my case, is kind of major. But we didn't have too much trouble with it on this trip. According to the desk which I called when I saw this connecting door, there are only two of the Monaco suites which are NOT connecting. WTF is up with that? They were both booked while we were there. Dagnabit.

The location is great, but we were fine walking a lot, AND we rented a car although we did not get a chance to take any dirty pics of me with it. (I wanted to... it was an Infiniti FX 35 and it has a big ass just like I do LOL!) I wanted to do desert pics too but we didn't get a chance... it actually RAINED while we were there, can you believe it?!? The desert pics will have to wait until July... we're going back... and we'll hafta do it at like 5am before it gets so hot that I cook. ARGH! Ah well, it's the desert!

The biggest sex news to me right now, is the ongoing story of an alleged prostitute arrested here in the Baltimore area. This story is so sad, and makes me incredibly furious! Here you have a suburban mom, two Master's degrees under her belt, a sometimes professor at local universities. She started an organization to help women and girls and has done all kinds of research on domestic violence issues, self-esteem issues, and more, to help women.

Of course none of that matters once the press says she is a hooker. Because in this culture, the very worst possible thing anyone can be, is a hooker. To drive that point home, the media have been publicizing her address, doing their very best to make her vulnerable to the kind of abuses that they say hookers are already vulnerable to. How does that work exactly? I'm not sure how showing footage of her beautiful face kindly asking you to get off her property, with her street address, is either honest reporting or helping ANYONE except for helping people do her harm and harass her and her family.

To me this woman is one of the new generation of sex workers. Women who are intelligent, enjoy sex, and are able to use the internet to create a far safer environment for sex work and fantasy fulfillment than was ever possible before. Women who are not in it because they are being abused, or are strung out on drugs, or have a pimp, but who are rather taking control of their own destinies.

Shucks, for all we know, she was doing firsthand research for a paper or project.

Part of the reason it makes me so furious when I see sex workers supporting the Bush administration is exactly what is happening here. Because if you don't believe that blocking access to sex education and birth control are a part of this, if you don't believe that spouting nonsense about women needing to keep their legs closed is part of this, if you don't believe that the Christian right is part of this, if you don't believe that their belief that forced abstinence is more important than preventing cancer in women via an HPV vaccine, then you honestly are just not paying attention. Or, maybe, you're lying to yourself somehow, like a few of my very favorite people have done, telling me things like "Nothing negative will happen to sexual/civil issues." Um, guys? Have you been watching?

Here's one porn webmaster recently arrested. Actually a whole bunch of porn webmasters have been arrested following Alberto Gonzales' announcement that he'd go after "obscenity" on the Internet. In Pennsylvania, a bunch of people got all in a tizzy about their children staying at a hotel where a swing event was taking place. Never mind that it was physically impossible for their children to have seen anything, and further never mind that the party was a formal one where everyone was in ballgowns and tuxes. They are dirty, filthy, swingers, don'tcha know. Their very presence could potentially corrupt all young minds within a 50 mile radius.

You know I could sit here all day and post links about this, but the bottom line is that not only is it creating huge problems for the porn industry, the truth is that it affects ALL OF US. Including you sitting there reading this *gasp* porn website! This is about freedom of speech and it affects every single person in America, whether you are someone who never looks at porn or not.

Maybe it's wrong to say, but I'm glad that 2005 is over and the entire world is starting out with a fresh clean slate. It was a tough year for me in many, many ways. So today, the very first day of 2006, seems to me a great day to look at the best and worst of 2005!

I will start with the worst, so that I can cheer you up by all of the best at the end... there was a *lot* of best!

First, for the year, all the horrible natural disasters. Now I know the tsunami actually happened in 2004, but it was so CLOSE that it feels like it was in one year. The tsunami, Katrina, Wilma, the earthquake in Pakistan.... I feel these things more, maybe, than some people do. Katrina had me bawling my eyes out at the callousness of our administration, with Bush playing guitar in Arizona and Condi watching "Spamalot" while Americans died on the Gulf Coast. (Don't say it Bushies! Either he is our noble leader and it is his duty to lead, or he is a putz. Can't have it both ways, darnit! I expect an American president to LEAD in times of crisis... don't you?) Sometimes the pain of the universe is just *overwhelming!*

Then, there was losing my beagle, Lady... May 24, 2005, actually. I had had her since I was 18, and let me tell you... that little girl was such a crazy bitch that you either loved her madly, or would've probably killed her. I loved her madly. I miss her every day, and I know some people think that is nuts, but there it is. I used to wake up each morning with her next to me in bed, and roll over and curl my body around her and just cuddle until I was ready to face the world. Her death felt very sudden and was one of the hardest losses I've ever experienced... and I've experienced an awful lot of loss in my life. ARGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

OK... enough bad!!!! On to some GOOD stuff. Because there was definitely lots and lots of good stuff too.

My relationship with C... which is like any relationship, constantly growing and evolving and changing and going through all of its own things. But the truth is that C is the perfect person for me in the universe... he keeps me well fucked, well loved, and spoils me rotten, and makes me take care of myself and of him.
